Bilerico blog gave Encountr a lukewarm review: it’s an effective way to see all the gay whores lurking nearby, but the chat feature and reloading speeds apparently need work. Also, you can’t tell who’s online and who’s not, which seems like a pretty big drawback.

But the bottom line is that until users of different smart phones can access the same hook-up app, mobile phone sex tours will remain in their infant stages. What we need is a master database of hook-up profiles showing urethra devotees across every platform.

And Encountr’s hope is to dip in to Grindr’s profile pool with an iPhone version of the app. Its press release states "An iPhone version of the app is imminent that will allow guys from the two largest phone platforms to connect using one service."
